About Jenny Cooney
Entertainment Journalist, Producer & Educator
Jenny leverages 35 years of extensive experience in the entertainment industry to wear many hats: journalist, producer, journalism university lecturer, podcaster, talent booker, media consultant, and festival and event consultant.
She also served as Executive Vice President in L.A. for the Australian-based award-winning company, Bunya Productions from 2018–2022, and is an Executive Producer on the upcoming film adaptation of Suzie Miller's Oliver award-winning play, Prima Facie, starring Cynthia Erivo and set to premiere in 2026.
Jenny is currently splitting her time between L.A. and Australia, where she is lecturing in journalism part-time and recently taught the Lifestyle Journalism unit at Melbourne's prestigious Monash University.
As well as being one of first U.S. editors of the top UK film magazine, Empire, Jenny's past and present clients include; The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Harper's Bazaar, Total Film (UK) and TV Week Australia.
As well as receiving the Publicist Guild's International Media Award, she was also nominated for an Australian Podcast Award and the L.A. Press Club award for the popular podcast series, "Aussies in Hollywood". The podcast was retired from the LISTNR/Austereo platform and is now archived at the National Film and Sound Archive in Australia, to be relaunched in 2026 as a stand-alone collection with new episodes on their website: www.nfsa.com.au
Jenny is a former member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and a current Golden Globe voter and legacy member of the non-profit Golden Globes Foundation. As well as working on the Golden Globes show as a seating coordinator and talent liasion for over a decade, Jenny was also on the 2001 founding board of the L.A.-based non-profit organization, Australians in Film and still volunteers and supports their work.
Her other consulting clients have included: the Gday USA annual gala, the Gold Coast Film Festival, the AACTA awards, the Golden Reel Awards and global masterclass and networking programs for Netflix Australia, Australians in Film, Screen Australia and the Australian International Screen Forum in New York.
